I recently met with a Head of Mobile who is rolling out a mobile commerce app across the United States. He asked if I had any data on rural America, where connections can often be spotty, and where you see a lot more 2G/3G network coverage and a lot less 4G-LTE. I shared the following data with him. Mobile app speed affects user happiness, and user experience is certainly very important, yet mobile app errors affect app functionality, and that is critical.
This data is pulled from one of the best app customers we work with. You can see that the app is incredibly well-engineered and that it has less than 1% errors over 4G-LTE and WiFI. Our data shows that the industry average in the US hovers around 3%. Again, the engineers behind this mobile app are top-notch.
However, even on this well-engineered app, you can see the errors that are caused by the mobile networks themselves.
Even over “respectable” 3G-EVDO connections, the error rate bursts up to 5.4%. Then, on 2G connections it goes as high as a 54% error rate, which basically makes it unusable.
Neumob focuses on making mobile apps faster, but even more importantly, on driving down mobile network errors so that your mobile apps function, even in rural America.
